Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a gentle, hands-on treatment that helps reduce pain, improve mobility, and release tension in the fascia and surrounding soft tissues. It can be used as part of physical therapy care for orthopedic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, chronic tension, and movement restriction.
Myofascial release is a hands-on therapy that works with the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, joints, nerves, and organs throughout the body. When fascia becomes restricted, tight, or irritated, it can contribute to pain, stiffness, limited mobility, and strain patterns that affect movement and overall function.
This treatment may be helpful for neck pain, back pain, hip pain, pelvic pain, postural tension, jaw discomfort, headaches, scar tissue restrictions, and chronic areas of tightness that do not fully improve with exercise alone. Because fascial restrictions can affect multiple regions at once, myofascial release is often used as part of a whole-body physical therapy approach for both orthopedic and pelvic floor concerns.
Sessions use gentle, sustained pressure to release tissue restrictions, improve mobility, and reduce tension throughout the body. Myofascial release may be combined with manual therapy, pelvic floor therapy, corrective exercise, and movement retraining to support pain relief, better function, and more comfortable movement over time.
